Little Red Schoolhouse

Little Red Schoolhouse  36″ x 35″

This quilt was made with a favorite place in mind.  We drive by this location often, when headed north.

If you’re lucky when you drive by you may see the whole yard covered with elk.  I decided to just use two to show in the quilt.  It is made with piecing of the building and mostly collage of many printed cottons for the rest of the piece.

Connie’s Pink Hydrangea

This Pink Hydrangea  (47″ x 41″) was a really fun project.

It is a painted image on whole cloth white cotton. Quilted heavily and then bound with an extra tiny piping in the binding seam.

All wall hangings have a 4″ sleeve sewn to the top back of the quilt for easy hanging.

Island Sunrise

Island Sunrise  17″ x 20″ wide

This island scene was made as a project for my book: “Fabric + Paint+ Thread = Fabulous”

The background is painted and the tree tops are constructed of thread.

All wall quilts have a sleeve attached to the top back.  This is used to insert a slat, dowel, or curtain rod for ease of hanging.

He Leadeth Me

He Leadeth Me

8″ wide x 19″ tall

This little scene was a cropped version of a large view of Stone Lagoon.  That Big picture was called “Beside the Still Waters”.  I used this smaller quilt as a project in my book: “Mosaic Landscape Quilts”, available on my website, or Amazon.

This tine quilt was Mosaic pieced, with applique trees and machine quilted.  There is a nylon overlay.

All wall quilts have a sleeve attached to the top back.  This is used to insert a slat, dowel, or curtain rod for ease of hanging.

Foothills

Foothills

16″ x 20″

This little scene on Hwy 36 inspired me to paint this piece.

The center section is painted on cotton fabric and then quilted through and a small binding attached to the edge.  Then the outside area is a wrapped canvas of 16″ x 20″ which is painted to look like an extension of the picture.  The little quilt is stitched and glued to the larger canvas.

The quilt hangs like any picture with a wire.

Garden Green

Garden Green   Hen & Chickens

42″ wide x 52″ tall

I took a photo of this plant in the garden and decided to paint a quilt top.  I used some extra stitching to emphasize each leaf.  It is machine free motion quilted and I added tiny piping to the shaped bottom edge.

This quilt was juried into the American Quilt Soc. Paducah KY show.

Flaming Gorge Trees

Flaming Gorge Trees

26″ x 35″ tall

While traveling we always stop for pictures and this caught my eye.  The trees were just beginning to leaf out and I decided to quilt them.

Farmlands and Hayfields

Farmlands and Hayfields

25″ x 19″ tall

This scene was inspired by the hills and farms in Oregon. In enjoyed the contrast between the hayfields and the green trees.

This is Mosaic Pieced and was a featured project in my book: “Mosaic Landscape Quilts”.

All wall quilts have a sleeve attached to the top back.  This is used to insert a slat, dowel, or curtain rod for ease of hanging.

Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus

39″ wide x 54″ tall

In addition to redwoods in our region, we have groves of Eucalyptus trees, so I decided to try a quilt of them.  This is a pieced background with the center area painted.  The trees are then painted over the pieced area.  Sort of an unusual method for me, but then I’m always experimenting.

Beach Flowers

Beach Flowers

29″ x 20″

This scene is one I have used on other pieces. In this version I painted the scene.  This gives it a totally different look.

Painted onto white fabric, machine quilted, and bound with dark fabric and tiny pink piping at adjacent corners.

All wall quilts have a sleeve attached to the top back.  This is used to insert a slat, dowel, or curtain rod for ease of hanging.
