Bailey R/G

Bailey on Red and Green

15″ x 17″

Another Bailey quilt – Since I taught this as a class I have several of the same cute dog…each is unique in subtle ways.

Painted on white fabric, lots of threadwork for the fur, and additional stuffing to add some dimension.

All wall hanging quilts have a “sleeve” attached at the top back.  This is used to insert a slat or curtain rod, for easy hanging.

Bailey 3

This has been a fun project, and I’ve needed to make multiples, hence the (3).

Painted image with lots of thread sewn to enhance the “fur”. Machine quilted.

12″ side x 16″ tall

Bailey, close up

This close up of Bailey’s head was used as an example when I was a guest on TheQuiltShow.com.  The demo is available online, if you want to be a member of that online show.

Baby Tigress Sheena

Baby Tigress Sheena

35″ x 22″

This tiny tiger visited our fair.  Gary took photos and I painted the image and then covered the painted image with thread to replicate the furry look.  I dyed the dark purple background.

On Eagle’s Wings

My son was the one who gave me the idea for this quilt. I got the eagle picture from John Hyde of Wild Things Photography.  (used with permission)

This quilt makes a strong statement Of “God and Country”. It’s large, but if you have the right place, it would be lovely.

Cat Tails

x600Cat Tails name

CAT TAILS

33″ wide x 37″ tall

This quilt started as an idea a few years back when I saw a baby tiger and got a few pictures of her. “Baby Tigress Sheena” is of the same tigress.  The tail didn’t show in that quilt and I decided to feature the tail in this one.

We also took pictures at the Arcata Marsh to get the cat tails used for the rest of the idea.

I shaped the quilt in a different way to draw more attention to the tiger.

Techniques: Mosaic Picture Piecing ground, woven, sky, applique and paint for cat tails.  Lots of thread on a painted tiger. Heavily quilted.
