Parade
42″ x 61″ tall
A dear friend, Rick Knapp, brought me some photos for my consideration and I chose this shot of cheetahs to make a quilt.
Techniques: Cheetahs are ultra-suede with ink details and then appliquéd, background is many black prints applied in mosaic fashion. Heavily quilted, bead accents
All wall hanging quilts have a “sleeve” attached at the top back. This is used to insert a slat or curtain rod, for easy hanging.
Winter Walk
16″ x 42″
Gary took this shot in Prairie Creek Park in our wonderful region. We walked through on the day after Christmas. Everything was wet and mossy and we had a lovely day. The really special thing about this quilt is the heavy thread work for the boughs.
Techniques: Mosaic Picture Piecing background. Machine quilted.
2006
This quilt was made from a photo of John Hyde for his collection.
Techniques: Free form Picture Piecing, appliqué using a picture as a photomap. Heavily quilted with beads, crystals and lots of glitz.
Cross Christmas
1993 quilt for daughter, Debbie’s family.
This is an original adaptation made especially for Debbie’s family.
What you can’t see is that there are “Christmas” symbols stitched in all of the white areas.
(adapted design of the Piecemaker’s Calendar pattern for 2003)
This quilt was the first I ever entered into a national show, where I got inspiration to try new methods in my quilting.
Technique: It was machine appliquéd and then lots of nice hand work with silk ribbon was added to each square.
2001 Vintage Hopscotch
37″ x 51″– made of feed sack samples and muslin
Because of the vintage materials, I decided to quilt it with traditional quilting designs and really do enjoy the way it turned out. It’s small, like a baby blanket.
God’s Unspeakable Gift
49″ x 49″
Singing happily in Vacation Bible School, “The Wordless Book Song”;
–I was struck with a thought, “I could make a quilt like that!”
“Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.” II Corinthians 9:15
Techniques: The Cross is Crazy pieced with many fancy machine stitches. It’s a “royal” theme, so I decided to use satins and sheers as fabrics. It also has beads and crystals for sparkle. The quilting on this quilt is some of my better effort.
My son was the one who gave me the idea for this quilt. I got the eagle picture from John Hyde of Wild Things Photography. (used with permission)
This quilt makes a strong statement Of “God and Country”. It’s large, but if you have the right place, it would be lovely.
84″ wide x 60″ long
All wall hanging quilts have a “sleeve” attached at the top back. This is used to insert a slat or curtain rod, for easy hanging.
Techniques: Mosaic Picture Piecing using a picture as a photomap. Eagle is collage applique. Heavily quilted.

A forest scene inspired by a picture in Sequoia Park, Eureka, CA. This is a location that I visit frequently and enjoy, oh, so much.
