While traveling in Northern Oregon, we happened to see this old farm, which looked perfect.  I imagined that the family had just walked away from it and it was slowly deteriorating. We were intrigued by the beauty and sadness of it.

Techniques: Painted scene on fabric. Heavily quilted. Piping and binding at edge.

All wall quilts have a “sleeve” attached at the top back for easy hanging using a dowel, or curtain rod.

Christmas Joy Table Topper

Adapted to lay on a table top (next to the quilt on the wall). This touch of Christmas will highlight any table.

Techniques: Pieced, appliqued, machine quilted. Has a sleeve sewn to the top back for ease of hanging.

Winter Lake

This little quilt was inspired by a visit to Glacier National Park.  What a lovely place.

Techniques: Paint on cotton fabric, applique trees, thread painted and then heavily quilted.

Smith River Quilt

We often travel toward Oregon and pass this beautiful river along the road.

Techniques: Mosaic Picture Piecing using a picture as a photomap. Heavily quilted.

A small redwood scene

Techniques: A collage of commercial prints.  The foreground is mosaic picture piecedthen fussycut ferns and trees cover a printed background.  It is heavily quilted with Superior threads. The edge is bound with a commercial print.

Rugged Coast quilt

Our California North Coast is a beautiful place.  This small quilt is a taste of the rugged coast.

Techniques: Painted with acrylic fabric paints on cotton, Warm cotton batting,  and then heavily quilted with Superior threads. The edge treatment is bound with a commercial print.

Redwood Shade

2012

I know I probably do too many redwood scenes…I can’t help myself. This is a small one, but I think it’s lovely.

Techniques: Mosaic pieced with many different prints; some thread embroidery for boughs and a touch of poison oak. Machine quilted.
All wall quilts have a sleeve sewn to the back top for ease of hanging…a dowel or curtain rod is inserted through the sleeve.

I used my Granddaughter and her new baby as models for this quilt.

Techniques: Painted on fabric. Heavily quilted.

christmas joy

This was an idea I decided to try.  It consists of 5 panels that are held together with some glitzy tulle and organza.

Each tree section is a combination of a collection of printed Christmas fabrics and the blue background is woven 1″ strips.

Names and phrases about Jesus are written here and there in the blue background.

Techniques: Collage, weaving, cotton batting. Heavily quilted.

Woodland Whispers

This was created in the Mosaic style and then a few whimsical animals were added, just for fun.
