I finished my portion of the 15' US Capitol tree skirt. It has been fun to be a part of this project.
Once all of the pieces are finished, several quilters will gather and assemble the pieces together. There are a variety of styles and subjects which will make up the whole. The rules indicated that we depict "California" with no religious or political topics.
Of course, my favorite topic is redwood trees. I decided to top mine off with a Christmas star. I'll show you how I designed that.
I drew out what I wanted the star to look like, transferred the shapes onto paper backed fusible and then appliqued to quilt top.
The chalk lines and masking tape indicate where the quilt will be cut to the proper size. Here is what it will look like.
