What a great job the ladies did - see--here are a few shots.

Everyone learned some new skills and I think we all had fun.

Threadplay with lacy leaves is also taught in the new book: "Painted Picture Quilts--with Thread Painting and Thread EmbroideryPainting and Thread Embroidery" also "Fabric+Paint+Thread=Fabulous" --check it out.

Good News from Road to California

durbin_besidestillwaters_doc

I'm happy to say that I got an email from the judges at "Road to California" Show.  My quilt "Beside the Still Waters" has won 2nd place in the Art-Naturescapes category.  It's always a great feeling to have my work recognized by others.

This scene is of Stone Lagoon, a few miles north of where we live.  I enjoyed water skiing and boating on this water when I was a young person.

Best of Show

begonia

Big excitement!!

My new quilt "Begonia Picotee" won Best of Show at the Humboldt Arts' Council Member's Show.  It will be on exhibit through December and is in the upstairs gallery. (Morris Graves Museum of Art, Eureka, CA) stop by and see the art if you have time.  There are some interesting pieces on display.

I am very thankful to have my work recognized in an art show.

The piece is a painted Begonia with heavy threadplay (very heavy).

The Year of the Slipper

199-slippers

I was looking through old sewing pictures this morning and happened upon this beautiful shot of ME!

This was in 199? something.  A few years back.  There are now 18 grandchildren, then there were not quite so many.  So that year I decided to make slippers for all the kids, kids' spouses, and grandkids.  Not a fancy present, but none-the-less a sewing experience, which of course IS my thing.

So I present:  The year of the slipper!
