I've been happy with adding a lot of thread to my quilt tops and find that it gives a dimension that I can't achieve any other way.
I teach the method and it's also taught in my book "Painted Picture Quilts--withThread Painting & Embroidery", as well as "Fabric+Paint+Thread=Fabulous", an out of print book
Here are a couple of examples of the class possibilities. I usually use the tree method when I am making a landscape quilt. The leaves and flowers can be used on a more traditional setting.
The classes that I have taught of this method result in happy students. I do notice that everyone tends to develop their own style.
It's all fun.
